Compare what gets delivered, not just the headline price

There is no single price that describes every tradie website. A site using business information and photographs you have ready is a different job from a rebuild that needs service research, writing, redirects and a domain switch. Before comparing quotes, ask each provider to describe the same outcome: what will be live, what you must supply and what happens after launch.

For a plumber, the useful pages might distinguish blocked drains, hot water and renovations. For an electrician, they might separate domestic work from commercial maintenance. A customer should be able to find the service they need, check that you cover their area and ask for a quote on a phone. More pages only help when they make those tasks easier.

Put these questions beside every quote

Ask for a written list of the work included. Content can mean a few headings, rewritten text you supply, or complete articles researched around agreed topics. Google setup can mean linking an existing profile, checking its information or helping resolve access and verification. Those are different amounts of work.

If an existing site receives enquiries, ask how its useful pages and URLs will be handled. A redesign should have an agreed plan for old links, contact forms and the live switch-over. Test a real enquiry after launch and confirm that it reaches the right inbox. A confirmation message on the website is only one part of that check.

  • Which service pages and articles are included, and who approves their content?
  • Who supplies photographs, project details and other business material?
  • Does the price include domain connection, deployment and a launch check?
  • What Google Business Profile work is included, where the business is eligible?
  • Who owns the domain, website accounts and final content?
  • Which ongoing costs continue after the build is paid for?

My website package: A$6,000 standard or A$5,000 upfront

My standard website and Google Business Profile setup package is A$6,000. You pay an A$3,000 deposit before work begins and the remaining A$3,000 is invoiced on completion. Paying A$5,000 in full before any work begins covers the website package with no remaining website balance. These are my package prices, not an estimate of the whole Australian market.

The package includes website design, development and deployment, service and location pages scoped to your business, at least 20 articles written and published at launch, SEO foundations, Search Console and enquiry tracking. Google Business Profile setup or optimisation is included where eligible. We agree on article topics, access, scope, timing and the service agreement before work starts.

No GST is currently charged. Advertising spend, campaign management and custom integrations are quoted separately. Google’s own Business Profile service is free; the package fee covers my work on it. Google controls verification and approval.

Check what you will pay after launch

A website needs ongoing hosting and care even when the build is complete. My standard SEO and website care plan is A$1,000 per month. Customers who pay the A$5,000 website package fully upfront qualify for A$800 per month for the same scope. Monthly billing is arranged after launch; buying the website does not automatically start a subscription.

The monthly scope includes hosting, maintenance, technical monitoring, fixes and agreed small updates, four new articles or substantial article updates in an agreed mix, Google Business Profile updates using material you supply, and enquiry reporting. If you do not want the monthly service, agree who will host and maintain the site and what that arrangement costs before you buy.

Sort out ownership and access early

Find the domain account and the Google account that owns your Business Profile before a launch date is promised. Invite the person doing the work through the provider’s access tools where available, rather than sending a password. Keep ownership in your business’s control and document who is responsible for renewals.

A useful proposal leaves you able to answer three questions: what am I receiving, what am I paying now and later, and who controls it when the work is finished? If any of those answers is unclear, resolve it before paying a deposit.
